Rachel's Organic Greek Style Coconut Bio-Live Yogurt

The BEST yogurt I have ever tasted.
Creamy and rich and velvety and with flecks of coconut, which I love!
I’m not kidding. If you like rich creamy and coconut things go to Tesco or Sainsbury’s right now and GET IT!! Someone recommended this to me a year or so ago and I just tried it yesterday. Why did it took me so long?!…

The Sea Tree

Yesterday we decided to go find the “fish and chips” place that everyone is talking about in Cambridge. It’s called The Sea Tree and it’s a small restaurant/takeaway that deals with sustainable fish fresh from the British east coast and Billingsgate Market. No frozen fish here!

The have lots of fish to choose from. We chose cod just because we wanted the classic flavor to compare to other “fish and chips” joints.
We bought “to go” some fish and chips, calamari rings and homemade tartar sauce.
The fish, the calamari and the chips are made to order right in front of you. This means you have to wait a little bit but it also means that the batter is going to be crispy and fresh. And it was.

We got home, 15 minutes later, and everything was warm and it smelled delicious. Like proper fried food and not lumps of soggy mess that smells like burnt car oil.

And it WAS delicious!

The calamari and the fresh tartar sauce are delicious too. If you go there YOU HAVE TO TRY THE CALAMARI RINGS! Never tasted better.

Punting

Punting – Everybody told me that when in Cambridge one has to punt. “Have you punted?”, “Did you punt yet?”, “Go punting!” It’s a bit obsessive.
Six months after my permanent arrival we went punting at last. I loved it! I thought it would be boring or too kitsch but, although it is a tourist attraction, it is fun. Who knew?!

Quem diria?!

The gang

Spot the cats

This lot loves to spend lots of time looking at the movement that goes on outside but this is a rare moment when they are both in different windows on the same side of the house. It’s usual for them to be in the bedroom window, on the other side.
I love the photo because it looks like a play house for cats.

O gang

Cambridge

I’m living in the UK for 40 days and these are 10 things I’ve learned so far:

– The Harry Potter world is not special. Everywhere looks like that;
– They call public schools to private schools;
– They eat way to much sugar;
– They sell sweets (candy) in clothes shops;
– They are not big fans of ironing;
– They talk fast and are easily bored if you don’t talk as fast;
– The health service is really free – as in ZERO money;
– They are immensely shy around foreigners – that can be interpreted as snootiness;
– Girls like to show their bottoms;
– There is mail delivery on Saturdays.

– O mundo Harry Potter não é especial. Em todo o lado é assim;
– Chamam escolas públicas a escolas privadas;
– Comem demasiados doces;
– Vendem doces nas lojas de roupa;
– Não são muito fãs de passar a roupa a ferro;
– Falam rápido e cansam-se depressa de falar connosco se não falarmos depressa também;
– Os serviços de saúde são realmente grátis – como em ZERO dinheiro;
– São extremamente tímidos ao pé de estrangeiros – isso pode ser interpretado como snobismo;
– As miúdas gostam de mostrar o rabo;
– Há entrega de correspondência ao sábado.

“New” used bike

Last Tuesday I won on eBay this used bike. £40 (€47/$65) in need of new brake cables, a good scrub and maybe a lube bottle. It crossed my mind to buy instead the cheapest bike they sell on the supermarket but it costs £80 (€94/$130) and it had the worst reviews ever.

And I like projects.
